Thekkady (25 km from Vandanmedu): The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary at Thekkady is a tiger reserve. The world famous sanctuary is surrounded by a 25 sq km artificial lake ideal for boating and viewing wildlife. There are also facilities for elephant rides and trekking. s
